(October 9, 2007) Update
As a notice we still go to the gym since we aren't above 18 yet lol. If anyone is willing to come and train then you are more than welcome since we do come here at least once every two weeks.

(September 24, 2007) Update
It doesn't look like enough people around this area are interested in a Parkour gym session here so I have stopped contacting the co-owner of the gym. However my friends and I still do go to the gym, so if you meet the requirements just give me a call. We usually go every two weeks, since it does get annoying having to watch out for tons of little kids...

(July 20, 2007) Update
Ok after having practiced at their gym for two hours today I talked with one of the co-owners I guess. He basically informed me that they can extend their insurance policy to include a higher age limit. The catch would be the monetary issues and people committed to it. What I was basically told was that if I could get 20 or more people committed to this, meaning individuals able to pay if the price was reasonable, then he could talk to their insurance policy. I mentioned about our coaches here on PKCali and he said that it would be possible to do this session/Parkour class. So I am going to start a list here, and what I basically need is the name of the Traceur/participant/coach and their age. They want to get an age range because they don't want 45 year olds breaking their necks in their gym lol.

List:

Kevin Enario-17
Terrance Davis-17
Thaerol Villanueva-18

So far it is composed of my friends and I who practiced there today.

(July 12, 2007) Update
Well I just spoke to them over the phone. After I mentioned the 18 years old and above deal... They basically said that they don't allow anyone above 18 years of age because of their insurance policy. So I guess that would be that, never mind about the Basic session here lol.

(July 7, 2007) Update
Alright so I know that there is a Basic gym session coming up soon, but I wanted to know if anyone would be interested for another one maybe a week or two weeks later. The gym is located here in Camarillo, and I am still sorting out the details. I am however looking at who is interested in being participants and/or coaches.

theres a gym located here in Camarillo, ventura county

192 Camino Ruiz
Camarillo, CA 93012
(805) 482-8000

open gym night is every friday
time: 7pm-9pm

If anyone around this area is interested then I am sure that we can meet with the authorities from that gym and come to a compromise of open gym for traceurs like ourselves. All of the little children that run around in the open gym really limit practitioners ability in there...

Well basically the Dynamites Gymnsatics here in Camarillo has a lot of children for their open gym nights on Friday. They start a 7:00 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m.

We (TsK) have gone to 3 of them, and I was just brainstorming here, but if we can actually get enough people to say that they will come, then we should be able to convince or negotiate with the supervisors there to have an open gym on some other day for those above 13 or 15 years old or something.

And I have never been to the LA gym so I don't know. If you put the size of Los Angeles and the amount of people in it and compare it to Camarillo then I would say that this gym is smaller, lol.

We would probably need to talk to them about having a session here since they have a rule about only having their coaches teach and spot. Their open gyms are still good though, other than all of the little kids running around.

I actually want to practice Le Parkour and some freerunning at this gym without having to deal with tons of little kids and coaches that make fun of you for trying to do a front flip... Or coaches who don't coach because you aren't taking one of their classes.

That is why I was thinking that if we could get enough people to say Aye to a session, and have PKCali coaches contact them, then maybe... Just maybe we can have a gym session in which more can be accomplished than just fun.

We went to the gym on Friday and I couldn't even try backflips, was reluctant to try front flips, since the coach wouldn't let us spot each other.

A PKCali session wouldn't be focused on flips you know. LOL!
I know you know that Spok...I just had to say it. ;-)

If you have a plan as to what you want to happen, let me know and I'll help.

Yeah it is called PK for a reason so most of the session should be dedicated to Le Parkour. Lol. Aside from planning a Parkour documentary, I am trying to plan out a session for the Gym in Camarillo.

What up people's. I go to this gym that is out in newbury park. They are open to pk. Actually want to start somthing there if I could get enough people to go. There are alot of kids there too, but don't really get in the way of what I do. If you want to learn certain techniques and need spots, the coaches that I deal with are open to teaching. I don't know how you guys feel about that. It just seems like your working to hard to get some guys to open up to pk, but also sounds like they won't help you get there. If you need a spot, let me know. I can give out details... By the way... UCLA session past sunday was cool. Lets do it again sometime. Peace

There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking that makes it so.

The coaches there have nothing against Le Parkour. What they are strict about is when you are trying flips, they don't want anyone getting injured on there facilities that is why they ask you to take classes instead if you are interested in acrobatics.

course i want ppl to show up thats why i asked to put it up on the map in case anyone was from our area and was looking for a gym, but now we're frikken discussing flips and parkour and the angry black man who always shouts at us to keep off the mats and so on, or the landing of a move to the kicking of kids by accident ratio

i mean isnt the sport small enough without all these internal conflicts about the differences between parkour/freerunning, flips, ninjaism, and gymnastics.

o and spok thats not true man! this older white dude who worked there when we went there bb4 ( i think hes like an owner) saw me flipping and was like "hey u should get someone to spot you so you don break your neck...."

i think the angry black man just doesnt like us and gets anal about us being there

He is talking about a coach at the gym. And yeah I do remember that older coach, at least that guy didn't make fun of us for trying you know.

I think that the best chance that we have of setting up a session at this gym would be to hold a Basic or Advance Gym training session.

I talked with some of the front desk people at the Dynamites Gymnastics. We basically explained to them that about having a Basic gym session for Parkour using their facilities.

I am going to be talking with the owner soon, to talk more about this session. So far what I would need is head count on who would be interested for a Basic gym session here.

Well if you read the post before yours I am trying to set up a basic gym session here for traceurs. But since you are in Camarillo, I guess you can call me up tomorrow or something so we can train together.
