Yeah Baby!!! I found a Gym.

New Hope Academy of Gymnastics
17270 Newhope St, Fountain Valley, CA 92708

-link-

They have 3 Time slots per week where we could use their facilities to train PK/Freerun
Monday: 8:30 - 10:00pm
Wednesday: 8:30 - 10:00pm
Saturday: 1:30 - 3:30 PM

With some restrictions...
Monday and Wednesday are "adult" class times(really just open Gym with staff to assist if needed and no children), there are also childrens classes running until 9pm, the staff asks that if we attend these, stretch and warm up until 9... then we are free. 18+ only

Saturday there are classes running until 2, same as above, but it is open to all ages.

there is a $10 fee and everyone must sign a waiver

About the facility:
Click for a picture of the facility

40X40 spring floor; various balance beams; one tumble runway; one tumble track; three traditional vault horses (AAI); one vault table (Spieth); two vaulting runways; three pommel mushrooms; three pommel horses; one safety pit for vault; floor; bars; rings; high bar; uneven parallel bars and beam dismounts... Plus assorted block, pads and wedges to use as obstacles

I'm planning to do Monday or Wednesday nights, less crowded.

More the merrier. We don't judge. And yes, paying a fee every session is the typical deal when it comes to open gyms. Most gyms I know of charge $15, except for that All-Star gym in SD.

So Wednesday night, people? Good to go?!?!

It says Mondays and Wednesdays right? Tomorrow is Tuesday... I think I'd like to go though... 10 bucks and after 9 oclock is that what it is correct?... I don't have a whole lot of experience but I can do most of the basic stuff.. and would like to learn more of the flips during parkour and am a little uneasy about trying outside to start... So is that the right info?

All the info you need is in the first post, JGunn. Starts at 8:30pm.

I am pretty injured... I just don't see tomorrow being a possibility for me... not to complicate things for you guys... but it's not like you need me to go, so have fun...

if anyone is weird about not having the person who inquired about it, there... then go ahead and call.

REMEMBER, this is simply an 'open gym' so we don't have a set instructor or anything... we are not nearly that organized.

in fact Mon/Wed is technically an adult class, but it was explained to me that it is essentially open gym with instructors on hand should you need help... and PK would be welcome.

one thing to note... the address is strange, it is not actually on New Hope, you turn off of new hope into the 'Los Cabaleros Sports Complex' and it is down 100 yards or so on the right hand side... the front of the building says "Gymnastics" large enough that it is clearly visible from the road

@ JGunn - I hope you are aware that flips and other aesthetic tricks are not a part of Parkour. I suggest reading this article and the ones it references: -link-
Yes some of the links in there are broken, but that is because parkour.net is doing an overhaul of their site.

Yah I know parkour deals with mostly just moving as quickly as possible through obstacles... and I like that but Im way more into the freerunning aspect of parkour...

There is no Freerunning aspect of Parkour. They are two seperate things that are completely different. I'm not getting into it because I have a whole bunch of times before. Just letting you know it is a common mistake people make don't worry bout it just try to find out ther difference this site is loaded with it lol.

No Impediments

@ JGunn - That's okay to be interested in tricking and acrobatics. However, that is not Parkour. As serafino pointed out, that is a common misconception with people who are just learning about it. If you want to be doing tricking and acro, go for it. Please don't call it Parkour though...too many people doing that is what causes the confusion for so many. ;-)

Have fun, be safe, and go train!

Cool guys thanks... What ive understood is that parkour is working at gettin through obstacles as fast as possible and with as much fluidity as possible... And Freerunning is kind of the next step... Taking those things you learned while doing parkour and spicing it up a lil

@JGunn: Just as long as you don't confuse Parkour and FreeRunning. Have fun training and getting what you want to accomplish. BE SAFE.

There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking that makes it so.
