Massive West Coast Jam!

Saturday May 23rd during Memorial Day weekend BAparkour would like to bring ALL the West Coast communities together for a Jam in San Francisco. San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area are among the best places for parkour in the nation. There are training grounds galore and friendly hosts to show you around. We hope to bring traceurs from Southern California, Washington, Oregon, British Columbia and beyond to San Francisco in order to establish a stronger bond throughout the West Coast.

On May 23rd there will be an all day session spanning five locations including WWII bunkers, a wooded trail run, school campuses, and concluding with a big barbecue at Golden Gate Park. On the days (Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Monday) surrounding the main jam there will be satellite sessions that anyone can attend. Please RSVP to this thread on BApk to let us know you are attending.

Itinerary

May 23rd – Main session
*11:00 AM Sharp! – Large warm up/session & group assignments at Battery Godfrey
*Local guides will lead groups to various other training grounds
*4:00 PM – All groups converge for another large group session
*5:00-8:00 PM – BBQ at Golden Gate Park (Lindley Meadow). Burgers & Dogs for all.

Nice! This could fit in well with my trip driving home to Oregon to visit family.

That said, some more LA people could head up with me, I've got a mini-van, but you'd be on your own getting back to LA. I'd love to make this event though.

Wow, this is the first I've heard of this... um, yeah I'll do my best to make it!

Cool, that's the weekend after my finals. I'm down for another SF trip. It'd be awesome to have more travel companions.

@jjshadoe: I've made that trip by public transportation before. Amtrak can easily take people from SF to LA. Costs $40-50 for individual tickets (group tickets may be cheaper) and you get to watch the scenery fly by.

You guys should rent a van, stuff it full of PKCali people (make sure to bring Haley) and crash on my floor.

Sorry about the lack of date negotiations! We were under a time crunch for various reasons.

@Kaos
We being...? Sorry, I don't want to be an [censored] and I do hope this turns out great but it seems to me that if you want to unify an entire coast for an event people are going to have to plan for and pay for, you involve everybody in the planning.

We are offering our homes, our money, our time, and our energy to you. This is a nice invitation from us to you. In my 5 year of pk event planning I have always found it more efficient to plan the event and then offer it to people. There will also be people who cannot attend no matter what.

Thanks for the encouragement! I am sure it will turn out great. I asked Cliff about the date and he seemed to think it made sense. Anyways, I hope you accept our cordial invitation.

Read-chan- I'm not positive about San Fran, but I frequently take flights up to Sac and Southwest consistently has flights there for under 150 roundtrip.

$49 dollar flight
san diego to oakland or san francisco

GO GO GO

Parkour is not competitive. If we don't train the new practitioners in safety, they will get hurt, and we will not be able to do parkour freely anymore. This is unacceptable.

This should turn out to be a great session. I hope to be able to make it, but can't commit to it yet.

Everyone who can though should try to make it. Flights are not expensive and I'm sure people are willing to carpool and split gas costs.

This sounds really great. I don't have a license yet, so I can't drive myself.

@wasabe - How long does the Amtrak take to get to SF?

It seems like the best way for me to get up there is by the public transportation. As for being able to stay up there and finding a place to stay might be a small struggle for me. I'm still jail bait, with no job!!!

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas on how they could possibly help me out in anyway, please let me know. I'll try my best to make it out to this Jam!!!

Uh AMTRAK takes a hell of a long time for that distance... plane tickets or carpool are really the most bang for your buck here. And I have a place in Oakland I'll be opening up for crashing, but only to people i've met before (so, you qualify!)
