[b]There are those that can lift truck tires. There are those that can push a car. There are even those that can even bend frying pans. But what truely is strength?

I believe when it comes to strength, the physical is the weakest part of what constitutes being strong. We as free runners, as human beings, are capable of doing amazing feats that the world cannot believe. We run up walls (at times even while doing 360s up or across gaps), flip over obstacles, jump great distances,we become physical manifestations of "The Way"..Our Way. We do what others just dream of, we ARE in the very essence of the word, superhumans. But keep in mind that although we are super, we are still human..We're heroes, whether you'd like to believe it or not. People look up to us, and even if they don't, they still can't deny what we do.

But there is another type of strength you know. There are those that can move nations, others can move minds. The are those that can lift spirits, high than any cloud could touch. There are even those that can kill entire races, erradicate even the strongest ideals.

But what IS this strength I'm talking about? What CAN be stronger than physical strength? Well, that would be the strength of will. Just like in my Martial art, Kajukenbo, there are principals that was planted in me by not just my teachers, but Kajukenbo itself. And all of us kajukenbo practitioners have this code.."Respect others, Refrain from immoral behavior, ENDEAVOR". These principals can also be follows by anybody anywhere i believe, but the most essential of the 3, is endeavor. But i'll explain what each has to deal with what I'm talking about concerning strength.

The first one is how we deal with others, its our self control. The strength to hold back, and realize that each and every individual is created in God's image, and therefore is a creature of dignity. We in turn must have the strength to deal with these individuals with humility, courtesy, and respect. But if need be, we also must discipline them, ESPECIALLY when it's for their own good (when they threaten our health, or the health of those we care about).

The second is for ourselves. We must have the strength to control ourselves, even when nobody can see us. Face it guys, we can steal shyt and get away quickly & silently if we wanted to. We are capable of SO MUCH guys. But thats not to say that not everybody can do what we do, because they can. We just have the head start, and we already have conquered the anxiety that they're still bond to. Imagine, we can steal and run, we can rape and run, we can chase and catch, we can be anywhere at anytime and all we chave to do is believe and train. The world is our playground, but we don't own it, we simply just have a few more steps forward than everyone else. But what are we to ourselves? What ARE we in God's eyes? What can we be? And after asking yourselves those questions, ask yourself this: "are we being the best we can be, the best we can potentially be, or are we sticking with the OPM (Original Pinoy Mentality) of 'Pwede na yan..' because nobody is looking? Now for the third.

Finally, endeavor. This is the strength to push on. why is this so important? because it ties in with the first 2 principals AND everything else in life. Like Naruto said, "I'll punch you to death, and if you cut my arms off, I'll kick you to death. And if you cut my legs off, I'll bite you to death. And even after you cut off my head, I'll stare at you till you die and curse you beyond the grave". It is the ability to persevere regardless of pain, struggle, opposition, or boundary. i've suffered countless bruises, a 90 degree dislocated shoulder that needed surgery, 3 sprain ankles, head scars, all 4 wisdom teeth taken out (and i was still sparring after), semi-compressed ribcage, and countless days of waking up the next day after training (kajukenbo) feeling like i need a motorized wheelchair to get around, but i still continued. Never give up, never surrender. Live life on your feet, standing chest out and proud. Smile straight into the eyes of the all opposition and yell from the depths of your soul " Bring it!", and jump straight into the chaos. YOU are alive. Now show them what the living can do.

"Traing STRONG, remain STRONG"

Good luck on this journey we call our lives guys, we may each have our own path, but we walk the same direction. Let us be a beacon to others. Let us be strong, so that others may know what strength is.

Train Strong, Remain Strong

Wow very well put. Your right about the fact that we are just people with a few "steps" forward than everyone else. So in that respect I do not see myself as superior or super human compared to others. I just started early. lol

Found an article today that directly relates to this topic: Mental Fatigue Affects Physical Endurance
"Performing a mentally fatiguing task prior to an exercise test can result in people feeling more exhausted, Welsh researchers said.

The study also found that mental fatigue did not cause the heart or muscles to perform any differently -- instead, people's "perceived effort" determines when people reach exhaustion."

Sounds like mind over matter to me. :D

“Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.”

I can relate to the mental fatigue thing. That happens to me a lot. Especially after long days.
