The Basic Terms and Movements

Given the fact that there are countless scenarios for variations and no specific movements that must be done in any situation, there are a group of techniques that are commonly used and seen as more of the "basics" in our movement.
Here is some information on the common terminology and some visual guides courtesy of parkour.net and the Australian Parkour Association

These are meant to give you a general idea of the movement and terms. Go outside and try them yourself - drill them over and over. If you have any questions feel free to post up it the Techniques and Movements forum. Remember, the names are not important. It's about being able to get from point A to point B. Parkour is not a set of tricks or techniques. Parkour is a discipline of utility, progression, and durability. Now go train!
