Sweet, I'll have to check this out one of these days.

“Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.”

Well, open gyms on Friday seems to be the days we would meet up. We have yet to do it formally though, as there are only a couple of us in the area. If you are interested to go to the gym here, let us know and that may spark an interest in all of us in the area to organize.

I don't know though, I am tired of training alone, but embarrassed/hesitant to go to the gym sessions alone as well.

OH! And welcome to PKCali. We are happy to see a new member. Feel free to ask any questions

Hey I'm in Vista, and I'm pretty much still starting out with everything. Would be sweet to jam and learn everything from people instead of videos and pictures

Whats up Brady, Welcome to PKCali!

You would really benefit from meeting and training with fellow traceurs. Learning about parkour from videos can leave you with bad habits and false or dangerous information.

You dont need mats to practice and you dont need the gym but its a good place to learn new techniques. You want to start small. Climb a tree or a wall. Get used to the way your body moves naturally, without a set of "moves". Start a conditioning routine, like pushups, pullups, squats and other calisthenics to strengthen your body and build up your "armor".

Read whatever you can get your hands on and dont be afraid to ask the community questions. These Forums and the Articles section are an awesome resource. Here are a few to get you started:

Information to start you off
Beginning Training
Basic Terms and Movements
Parkour is not done in the Gym

...and if you havnt seen it yet, check out this feature about San Diego's PK community: Tracing the Traceurs

“Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.”

Hello,

My name is Kyle.
I have only recently heard of parkour and am very interested.

There seems to be at least a handful of people in oceanside, so perhaps something can be organized?

I know there are gym meetings but it of course costs money to enter the gym.

I can be reached at -email-
